Our Weekend

We went to Muravera (on the eastern coast) on Saturday morning for the festival. It was something like a citrus festival, Muravera is known for its oranges and lemons. We took a beautiful but windy road to get there. When we got there, it turns out that the big day of the festival was Sunday. There were some interesting talks on how to improve agriculture (in Italian, of course) and a sporting event featuring local politicians. We didn't stay for either.



Instead we headed for the beach. The day was pretty crummy in most places but it seemed to stay sunny on the beach. We had a big wind/rain storm on Friday so the waves were huge. Carly finally went into the Mediterranean Sea (all the way).



Here's the kids on the beach. As we pulled into the parking area, Gabriella yelled a high-pitched "BEACH", Daniel says "I'm definitely going in" and Christopher says "I'm going to look for shells ". It was a quintessential beach moment.











Here's Carly with some oranges we picked up from a ventor (Beppe's Music Show on his t-shirt) on the side of the road. She would like us to note the curls in her hair. So we're buying the best tasting oranges EVER and we're paying about $0.50/lb. Too good to be believed. Strawberries are coming in and the price of them is dropping. The fruit here is so good.

Speaking of cooking we have mastered steamed clams in olive oil with spaghetti. Tough to beat with fresh clams.
